This medicinal plant, also known as MELISSA OFFICINALIS, it is a winter plant; infusion is the general method of preparation.

1-Botanical Name.

The botanical name of this medicinal plant is: MELISSA OFFICINALIS

2-Synonyms.

Botanists also call it lemongrass, beehive pepper, French tea.

3-Flowering And Harvest Periods

Its flowering period is limited between July and September. October and its harvest period between July and August.

4-Active Substances.

Essential oil (citral, lemongrass), resin, tannins, bitter principles, mucilages, linalool, geraniol.

5-The Used Part.

The leaves.

6-Medicinal Property.

This plant sold in winter has stomach calming, carminative, antispasmodic, choleretic and fortifying properties (migraine, nervousness).

7-How To Use?

It is generally used as an infusion at a dose of 25 to 50 g per liter of boiling water.

—To relieve stomache cramps, colic: take an infusion at a rate of 50 g for a liter of boiling water, infuse for ten minutes

— Increase bile secretion: take three glasses per day, including one on an empty stomach, of an infusion of 20 g of lemon balm per liter of boiling water, infuse for around ten minutes.

— Nausea: drink very hot and slowly an infusion of 60 g per liter of boiling water, let it infuse for around ten minutes.

— To calm coughs, drink two glasses a day of an infusion of 50 g per liter of boiling water, infuse for around ten minutes.

— Insomnia: drink in the evening at bedtime a glass of infusion of 20 g of plant for one liter of water, infuse for 10 minutes.
