1-Botanical Name.

The botanical name of this medicinal plant is: GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA.

2-Synonyms.

Botanists also call it softwood, licorice wood, softwood.

3-Flowering And Harvest Periods.

Its flowering period is limited between June and July, its harvest period between March and October.

4-Active Substances.

Glycyrrhizin. resin. eraser. bitter principle. traces of essential oil, asparagine, mucilage, sugar, starch.

5-The Used Parts.

Rhizomes.

6-Medicinal Property.

Licorice has expectorant, diuretic and laxative, antispasmodic, soothing, purifying, digestive, pectoral, refreshing, tonic and anti-inflammatory properties.

7-How To Use?

— Aerophagia: drink 3 glasses per day of a decoction at a rate of 50 g per liter of boiling water, boil for 5 min.

— Mouthwash (gingivitis): prepare a decoction of 200 g of licorice for one liter of water, boil for 5 minutes.

— To calm stomach aches: drink a decoction of licorice at a rate of 50 g per liter of water, boil for 5 minutes and leave to infuse overnight.

8-Caution.

Excessive consumption of licorice can lead to hypertension.
