THE GREEN ANISE
Green anise is an extraordinary medicinal plant, and becomes even more so if it is mixed with other plants such as caraway or cinnamon.
1-Botanical Name.
Green anise is a plant known by the botanical name PIMPINELLA ANISUM. It can also be called European anise or little anise.
If its flowering date begins between July and August, its harvest period is between July and September.
2-Actif Substances.
Green anise is a medicinal plant known for its active substances which are as follows:
Various sugars, essential oils especially anethole , fatty oils, starch, choline, malic acid, resins, pectic materials, mucilage, albumins.
2-Medical Properties.
It is a digestive, intestinal and uterine antispasmodic, a carminative, an expectorant, a galactologist, and a stimulant.
3- Decoction vs Infusion.
Decoction: This involves boiling the plants in water.
Infusion: This involves pouring boiling water over the plants.
4- Mode Of Use.
It is generally used as an infusion at a rate of 10 to 15 g per liter. To counter aerophagia, drink an infusion of 15 g of hot water after a meal, adding a piece of cinnamon or cumin and caraway; leave to infuse for 10 minutes.
To increase milk secretion, we use a 10-minute infusion of the anise, cumin and caraway mixture.
To counteract intestinal spasms, we drink an infusion of 10 min of green anise at a rate of 20g per liter of hot water.
